I am home and ok, just a little wiped out

Hi!   Thanks for all the well wishes, hugs and prayers.!!!

I went for my arm revision yesterday morning.......got home yesterday afternoon.....feeling pretty good just very wiped out so I rested in bed for the remainder of the day.

The good news is I woke up after anesthesia.........my only fear of surgeries is that they can't wake me .....so I'm glad to report I woke up with no problems.    I think the arms look smaller even though they are swollen and all wrapped in ACE Bandages with a compression garment on top.  I can see some of the bruising around the back of the armpit.....nasty, but this fade fairly quickly.  I'll post pictures on my profile in a few days once I'm able to unwrap them.

We left the house just after 5am and got to the hospital right on time (10 mins early).  Everything went on schedule....When signing all the hospital papers (releases, etc) I noticed the one that describes the procedure said I was giving permission to do "Lipo and a possible scar revision"......I said to the nurse that doesn't sound right.......The plan is to do the lipo and remove the excess skin that is still hanging.  The nurse said to discuss it with the Dr when he arrives.
The Surgeon arrived about 8:40 to draw on my arms.........I asked about the procedure and he said doesn't think he will be cutting because he wants to be very aggressive with the lipo and that it would cause the arms to instantly swell a lot and he wouldn't be able to take off much skin (because of the swelling) he wants to cut the skin off after the swelling goes down from the lipo.  He said he can do it at his site.

I was disappointed but at that point I didn't want to get off the table and tell him not to do it. But I did tell him I was surprised to hear this since we had already discussed the plan and it included cutting the skin that day.........I also told him I did not like the idea of having to come back for a 3rd time.  Frankly, I don't think I should have to pay another $2,000 to remove the skin.  He said he could do the skin removal in his own surgical center (I would not need to go to the hospital).  I also told him I'm thrilled that I wanted the arms all done before my LBL and I really don't want to further delay the LBL.   I can't help but worry how many procedures he'll need to do the LBL.....

As I type this I'm getting a little miffed that it is taking 3 stages to just get my arms done.  I have my follow up appointment at his office tomorrow so I'll talk to him about it again.   I will not stress over it because as my brother says all the time......it is what it is.

So far it's not too painful...I took a pain pill last night to help me sleep.  I have not taken any painkillers today......if it's still real sore at night I may take one just so I can be more comfortable and get some sleep.  Mainly I just feel a little woozy from the anesthesia.

I'm going to listen to Dr's orders, rest and keep the arms elevated as much as possible.
Matthew is being very helpful.......he fixed dinner last night (I didn't really eat much) and he cooked oatmeal for breakfast this morning.  I think he's doing turkey sandwiches for lunch.  I hope there is something good on TV this afternoon because I'm not one for staying in bed all day.

Hope you all are having a terrific day.

Glad you're home. I think I'd be pissed after going in for one procedure and finding out it was something else. He shouldn't charge you for an extra one in that case.

Rest up and let someone take care of you for a change.

I think I'll stick with my flabby batwings. I had enough of surgery after two knee replacements on the same knee (and still don't feel like it worked).

Ruth,
Glad things went well. I am glad you are home also.
I did not have lipo on my arms just the brachioplasty. I did have a revision on the right arm and they didnt do lipo either. Just took the skin and a fatty tumor I had on the inner elbo.

Hi Ruth,

I truly understand your feelings about the anesthesia (especially after realizing this is probably what killed Michael Jackson). I was so wiped out when I had my arms, face, and breasts done last November that I remember being in recovery and thinking if I died now, it's ok.

I sure hope you'll be happy with the results. I remember telling you that I thought my arms were too small and they looked like Popeye arms. I've really been working out morning and night to build up the upper muscles and love my results! I now am wearing tank tops and I think they look amazing (something I wouldn't have done last year). I tell people that I/m trying for Michelle Obama arms!

Each day you'll feel better. I'm sorry that this is taking so long, but it will be worth it when you're finished. Next year you'll be wearing those little tank shirts too!
